Default Big Block Hood Options

Thanks to everyone who helped me out with my previous big block questions. My next question is what hood do you guys run with the really big blocks, like 502, 509, 540 and up. My SB '69 actually has a 427 style hood on it (the previous owner liked the looks, as do I). I'm guessing I may have to buy an L-88 style hood but it's just so damn much $$$$, plus it'll be hard to match my paint which is non-stock, and I have no idea what company makes the paint. I've seen the regular stock-looking L-88 hoods as well as the so-called "long" version which eliminates the wiper doors. Something rubs me the wrong way about the long one; on the pictures it looks like the hot air would be vented right on top of the windshield and would draft into the cockpit when the roof is down. Not nice. I'm already getting lightheaded enough from the sidepipes. Plus my wiper door actually works, so I'd hate to rip it off unless I had to. Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Joe

I bought an extra hood so as not to destroy my original hood.

Then bought a stinger style scoupe....the two piece one.
Not fussy on the front part so I never used that piece.
I had the scoupe fiberglass molded onto my new hood and cut a hole in the hood for the K&N filter and K&N Xtreme top to fit through. Still use my Victor Jr Scorpion intake.

Worked out great!
My Avatar does not show it too well, but I can e-mail you pics if you wish to see it better.
