I asked this inside a different thread, but Ill throw it out there.
On ANY bumper, especially the 80-82, has anyone seen or done a custom job that removes the front liscence plate area, or modifies to get rid of it. I hate how it interupts the front of the car and want it gone...
Im looking for anyones experience or tips with this...I doubt itll be an easy job, fibreglass remoulding is always fun.
Its just fibreglass. Practice on a damaged one first. If you are happy then take the one of your car and do it. If you can find an old front (or two) you may be able to to chop it to use as "panels for the basic shape you are filling. Do a search on the net for "fibreglass repair". Should cost you less then $100 to do it. Make sure you wear a mask and have good air flow. Smelling the fumes and breathing the dust will put you down real quick.
Alright guys....Dont hate me for doing this to VetteFreaks beautiful car, but it was the best angled shot that I have to show you waht I want to do....hope he doesnt mind!!!!

Where are you going to put the front plate. It is required by law and that last thing a teenager wants is to attract the cops.
As for working fiberglass I too enjoy it. I cut my front bumper in 2 pieces and put it back together without a problem.

Ive never driven a street legal vehicle in my life. Not only that, but Im from BC, where I drove my Cutlass and my Toyota WITHOUT a front plate for the last 11 months and 29 months respectively, without a single problem, and YES I had been pulled over by the police. I merely stuck the plate in the window and as long as YOU HAVE IT, they dont usually care. The police are not stupid, nor are they ignorant, nor are they out to get people who drive modified vehicles, I do not anticipate a problem, and if one should arise, Ill deal with it. Im not going to sacrifice the art or performance of my car for a BYLAW. Thanks for your concern though.
Front plates aren't required in all states, Norval (Indiana, as an example). Rears ARE required everywhere.
I know that but 81 vette lives about 200 miles from me in Ontario Canada and they are required here, As for carrying one in my front windshield is not a option. I like things neat and tidy and try not to tick off the police.
With any real power that plate will come flying through the cockpit on any hard launch.
Lets clear one thing up though, Im only going to SCHOOL in Ontario, I LIVE in British Columbia....West Coast Baby!!!! We're a LOT more chill out on the left coast.
