No problems for last 9 mo until recently sometimes after driving around, stop at restaurant, have lunch, then go to restart, cranks but won't start. take off air cleaner, let sit for minute, starts. Thought air cleaner was dirty, replaced with new one...Still doing it. Edelbrock 600 cfm on a 350. Is is dripping fuel while its sitting with hot engine? Never had problems with Edelbrock before. Any ideas?

how long usually before restarting? If the engine isn't fully cooled down, sounds like more of a starter heat soak problem.

no it is not the starter, the started is cranking strong..it is something related to the carb I think

What was that about dripping fuel? It should never drip fuel while not running. If you tried to say what I think, you might have a fuel boiling problem. If so, try a heat shield.

I'm definitely getting fuel as you can smell it. If filter was blocked I would be getting some bogs while driving, and it performs great while driving. Was just wondering if anybody had seen similar symptoms with their Edelbrock.

I had a similar problem with my Holley last summer. Sometimes the engine wouldn't start when hot. I could smell gas so I would yank the air cleaner and could see gas bubbling out of the idle air bleeds down the venturi and onto the throttle plates. A slightly lower primary fuel level and heat shield solved it.

i like that idea.... runs ok when finally started... probalby runs too rich but you may not know it especially if highway driving is involved.... when you turn it off you see/smell fuel yet when you go to start it nothing happens until fuel pump pumps in enough gas to overcome the empty float.... try lightly tapping the float area with a screw driver to see it unseats the needle..

You have trash in the needle or seat or your float is binding . More than likely gonna have to replace the needle and seat if you can get it seperately . If not ..... Kit time .
