Default Header choice (help me decide please)

Well, it's time for a new exhaust system. I currently have some old headmans (I think) running true duals with no smog stuff. I'm sort of stuck on which headers to go with.

Initial choice was hooker comps. Then I noticed the Dynomax Cerama-coat. Then I noticed that the ceramic coated Hookers were about $100.00 more than the Dynomax.

OK, my motor is very mildly modified. I don't really push it hard very often. I routinely drive it long distances, thousand mile one ways are not uncommon. My priorities on anything I do to it are 1. reliability, 2. longevity and 3. performance. Looks are important but I don't really prioritize it.

What headers should I get. (doesn't really have to be either of the above) Also, if you have an opinion, your reason for the opinion is more important to me than the opinion itself!

Thanks.

Id go with the Hookers. Ive ran only hooker products in my vehicles and they are well worth the money. You get the best flow and the best machining, which gives you the best power and efficiency.

I would get a set that has been coated. I have been very happy with Jet Hot coatings on mine. It has held up very well in the 6 yeras it has been on. I am running Hooker competition headers. They do not hang down and I have never hit them on the ground. Jet Hot has headers that are already coated and it is a little cheaper than if you send them your headers and have them coated.

You only need a cheaper set of SS shorties....like Sanderson at www.sandersonheaders.com.

A mild engine will breath a bit better, it would look nice the ss shorties and will give you the extra 10-25HP gain

I'm a fan of tri-y headers for street cars. They are designed to build mid-range torque and power. Take a look at Stan's Headers in Auburn, WA (suburb of Seattle). They have a web site at: http://www.stans-headers.com/

You can't beat Tri-Y's for the street. I am going to get a set from Stan's!

Man, those Stans headers are gorgeous!

Does anyone know the tubing diameter for the Corvette headers? I didn't see it on the site anywhere...

No need to compromise, you can have it all.
The Dynomax Corvette SB Cerama-Coat are ideal or if you want Hooker then you want the Competition.

Performance Normally rec. both the Hooker Super Competition & Dynomax Corvette SB Cerama-Coat, which fit & flow great- much better than is commonly known. Have been rec. them & many have them now.

Ganey is right, I recently installed the Dynomax ceramic coated. Fit is great, finish is fine, flow and sound is awsome. They don't hang too low.
