As long as you find one thats a close fit to your pillar post, you can use a heat gun to soften up the plastic and mold it to your post. I did this in a different car and it worked pretty good.

Ricers use pillar mounts. Muscle cars mount them where they REALLY belong...on the hood...or steering column...or under the dash...or in the dash...or UNDER the hood...

Maybe a pillar mount IS a good idea!

so from what it sounds like they don't exist. So either go get one for a vtec type R piece of s$*% or make your own out of the best material known to man, fiberglass. It's really not that hard. We'd love to see pictures, and there's pleanty of experienced guys to help you out on the forum.

And no, that vette isn't ricer because of the gauges, its ricer because the nitrous bottle and lines are mounted UNDER THE CAR where it can get hit by a rock, bottom out on speed bumps, etc.

yeh, the sub setup is wack......

the reason i asked about pods was because i have all digital gauges, 6 of them, an since i'm doing a custom interior, i have to do something witht the existing speedo/tach dash setup...... i could mount all six in the console and black out the existing speedo tach area since they won't even be used or installed.... i thought the pillar idea would be nice..... three in the pillar and three in the console/or driver dash..... i've been debating on what to do with my setup......

if you look close at my guage pod you can see the stick foam I used to make it fit. It is for a 92 firebird. Position it high though, otherwise your hands get reallllll close on the steering wheel. the stickum foam is not stuck to the pillar, just teh pod. the pod is attached via stock pillar screw.

i used a piece of pvc pipe .took just a wee bit of sanding, gauge fit right in. i painted it black and used a small trim screw inside the pod to attach it to the pillar. pillars are worn so i wasn't concerned with a small screw hole

i think i might just fab up a new driver dash to host the gauges. but then again i might just fab up a hole new driver/pass/center console setup out of fiberglass. i know some tricks to make forms and what-not. i was gonna try to keep it simple and original but.......... another project in the project in the project....

I like the pods, they look good. Just a question though, and this is the reason that I am glad I didn't do it, but does having gauges that bright and that high in your field of vision blind you or bother you while driving at night? OK, so I'm showing my age here, (I turned 40 last week )

That vette ain't no ricer, it's a vette. The NOS bottle underneath isn't too bright, but a ricer is a car with a sewing-machine engine and a driver that thinks he's bad because his car sounds like me after I've had too much beer and chili (but nothing to back it up) and that's only because engines are like sex-theres no replacement for displacement. So, A-pillar guys, rock on! Nay sayers, stop poo-pooing creativity.

the lights are prolly only 5 watts, not bright at all and my tach is an indiglo, you have to hit it with a flashlight, kinda a pain, but also cool if I lose electrical at the track. there are also covers for the lights in green or red that helps dim them. red would be nice since it has the lowest wavelength and affects night vision the least.
