Default Shock options?

What options do I have for a 1970 convertible? I will be installing 460# front springs and a 7 leaf rear in the future, but want to upgrade the shocks for now. I know that bilstein's are the best, but is there a good quality cheaper alternative? The car will see no track time, just some backroad twisties.

I bought the 9 postion adjustable ride shocks from Mid-America, let you know how they ride in a couple weeks once the car is finished.

I have the Mid America RCSI adj shocks, they work well for my use (street, drags, & autocross.) The RCSI shocks do not have a "gas cell" so they will ride very well but may have problems for extended track sessions. They were $200 last time I checked.

Why would they have problems?

I put Bilsteins on my 80 and they have made an ENORMOUS difference. The car went from being nervous & bouncy at highway speed to being solid. The rebound on the Bilsteins just can't be beat.
