Default Diff Crossmember Bushings Install/Problem

I bought some new diff/crossmember bushings and they don't seem to fit. Anyone had experience with these repro things? These are the rubber bushings/cushions that mount the differential crossmember to the frame. I bought new bushings (they are expensive). I had the new bushings pressed in (Tom's Differential). I bolted my newly rebuilt differential to the crossmember and expected that this would be a quick job to bolt the crossmember into the frame. MORE REPRO BLUES. The repro bushings have a metal "cup" that mates around the frame "plug." Sort of a female bushing, male frame coupling. When I start to torque the crossmember in, the bushing jams against the frame "plug." The metal in the repro bushing "cup" digs into the frame "plug." A bubba solution is to get out my grinder and open up the bushing cup. However, this doesn't seem a good idea. My grinder will make the mounting too loose. Torque from the differential will snap and bang the crossmember against the frame plug if there's any looseness. I suppose I could just use the grinder to expedisously mate to the crossmember and later weld a bracket to the frame to prevent it from moving around.

Has anyone else had this sort of a problem? Solution?
