Seeing as how we have numerous threads about heads right now, I thought I'd throw my question on the pile.
Has anyone installed the Edelbrock Performer heads on their car? They almost 300 bucks less than AFR heads, and although they're not CNC ported, Edelbrock claims their heads are CNC "profiled" for optimal flow.
So...what are your opinions? (Like I gotta ask...)

I'm using the GMPP Signature Series, 110cc chambers, 2.25I in the 290cc intake runner size. According to CHP mag, when I bought them, they were the best flowing heads in the 290cc class. Some say Edelbrock makes them for GM, I don't know for sure.
Check out CHP magazine's site for the head flow charts.
I bought a set of Edelbrock RPM heads few years ago. The quality was top shelf in my opinion. The flow rates at that time were less than some others out there today but they did get the job done very well. The head has been redesigned since then for better flow and I would bet the quality is still there. Most guys look at flow numbers and justify the added cost of the AFR's but the Edelbrock heads are much better than the smoggy originals but cost less than others. I guess it depends on what you are trying to do with the car.
You pays your money, you takes your pick. Either way you win
I installed the Edelbrock Performer and I'm happy with the result, haven't been to the dyno so I can't tell how big the HP gain is...
The engine runs great with Edelbrock heads, cam, carb and intake.
The Edelbrocks don't have quite the power potential of some of the others (like AFR), but the quality is excellent and the price is right. If you can live with heads that maybe give up those last few ponies they are an excellent choice. I'm running the big-block edelbrocks myself.

I have the Victor Jr. 215cc CNC'ed heads, they are top notch, they flow 285 CFM out of the box. I like Edelbrock stuff and I like AFR stuff too but they could be a tad over rated.
Very important to look at flow numbers, Edelbrock flow numbers on their website are not exaggerated, at least they weren't for my heads. Basically if your cam only opens to say .500" then the flow numbers at .700" don't matter sometimes the less expensive heads flow the same or better at the mid lifts ( .300" to .500" ) as the expensive ones
I would go with the Edelbrock heads for lifts to .500"
Page,
I have the Performer RPM heads. They are good head. I went with the 64cc chambers (stock heads were 76cc) and roller rockers. I've got to summers with some long trips without any issues. The ports are CNC cut to size but they are not polished. All my accessory brackets fit without any re-work. You will need new head bolts with washers to bolt them on.
We have about 15,000 miles on our new Performer heads. We put them on a new Goodwrench bottom end. We are also using the performer cam and intake. Car runs great. Has lots of power. Gets 5000 to a quart of oil. You have our vote!
