Driving home late last nite...stopped at a light, and smelled burning oil/trans fluid coming from under the car. Could vaguely see wisps of the smoke at the light...not from under the hood, but further back. Engine sounded ok, and trans shifted smoothly.
Unfortunately, it was drizzling also, so I couldn't tell if I was leaving anything on the pavement.
Only had time to quickly check the fluid levels this AM and everything is where it should be.
Any preliminary thoughts/causes/past experiences that you good people could share that would cause this to happen?
If you haven't driven the car in a while or have clogged PCV this could be oil leaking from a valve cover and dripping/blowing onto exhaust. Leaking trans pan would also do it. Since you said you checked fluids this am, I'm assuming you didn"t run it, sooo the trans level could be low.
Maybe you ran over a skunk. I think we need a bit more information and you need to do a bit more research before we start playing "what's wrong with my car"
