454 HO Crate Motor, Problems?
I'm considering getting a 454 HO crate motor. Recently I've heard of two instances of high oil consumption (like a quart every 250-300 miles) with these engines. Is this a chronic problem? Is there a reasonable fix?

I think this was mainly a problem with 502's and their use of a really low tension oil ring. I went through this with my 502. Scoggin-Dickey even mentions it in their catalogue with a different ring recommendation. As far as I know this was only a problem on 502's but you can always ask. Good Luck. Bill.
