Default C3 Interior Care

HELP.
WHAT PRODUCT (S) DO YOU USE TO CLEAN AND PROTECT YOUR CAR VINYL AND LEATHER INTERIOR FROM UV RAYS, ETC? ALL I HEAR IS THAT SINCE VINYL AND LEATHER NEED TO BREATH, YOU CANNOT USE SILICONE BASE PRODUCTS. IT WILL CAUSE THE INTERIOR TO CRACK WITH TIME. BUT, ALL I CAN FIND AT AUTO PARTS STORES ARE PRODUCT WITH SILICONE.

Use a good leather cleaner to clean then use a conditioner; Zaino makes a good product but there are others that also work well, just make sure you use seperate cleaner and conditioner. For vinyl I have recently started using the Armor All wipes, especially the cleaner but occaisonally the protectant when I am getting ready for a show.

I've been afraid to use leather cleaners on my red leather... Anyone have the misfortune of having the dye bleed or worst, come right out of the seats?

I have seen it some of the Auto Stores, such as Pep Boy's, Autozone etc, but the best place is a good "tack" shop as in horse back riding. Lexol is very popular for saddles.

I don't think you need to go all out and spendy on high dollar stuff for your seats. I use Meguiar's leather care and I think it works great. I use a damp cloth to clean the dash with. I don't think the armor all looks good inside the car on any surface.

Here's another vote for Lexol Vinylex. It is awesome on tires as well. I have also used 303 and it is also good stuff (like Lexol better though). I get them at www.autogeek.com or http://www.properautocare.com/index.html.

There are plenty of other places that carry these products, but I have gotten great service every time from these places so I keep going back.

Just an interesting side note. When in Carlisle, I watched an Al Knoch installer use Lemon Pledge to clean\lube the leather after installation. I asked if the did that all the time and was answered yes. I shook my head
I thought that the chemicals would dry the leather out.

I use and have used for years.....Suntan OIL with as high a UV number as you can find... Usually 18-24. This works better than anything I have tried but..... Lotion won't work... don't try it. I have never had a cracked dash or detiorated parts. I lived in So. Cal for many years now in Florida. Major sun areas.

I appreciate all of your opinions and ideas about this subject. I will look into your suggestions. I guess the idea is to stay away from silicone base products. Thank you very much.

303
Lexol
Vinylex

All are low gloss and non-sticky/slippery when dry. They are also silicone free.

Lemon Pledge furnature polish. It is not wet and slippery like Armour-All.

-Mark.

My crazy uncle Bob used to use Pledge on the outside of my Grandfather's car for years. He kept it under a carport for 20 years not washing it but using the furnature polish frequently. It looked great.
