In the latest issue of corvette enthusiast magazine ZIP has an add for door panels (super sale) Thgey are $169. This is a pretty good deal and I was thinking about ordering a pair. Has anyone had any experience with ZIP door panels?
When I redid my interior I bought all my stuff from ZIP, the door panels are good for the price, def not NCRS or show quality but fit OK. Need to cut the hole for the window crank but no big deal. I think they buy them from someone and have them drop shipped but don't recall the manufacturer.
For that price, see what's included. For a 69, you need the so called railroad tracks, the "comfortweave" piece, the lock bezel....maybe something else. With the "basic" panel, you get just the panel, none of the trim. SO....if you need trim, you might consider what most call the "deluxe" panels....MORE expensive.
I have NO experience with ZIP's panels. I can tell you that every shark repro door panel I've fooled with, or helped others fool with have fit like "boots on a rooster". Most have a hard plastic backing. Chuck
Boots on a Rooster? I have never tried that... My origianls are still pretty good but they do look a little "aged" I'll put them back in the zip boxes and store them with all my other original stuff. I was going to get them from Al Knoch at the NCRS meet in January but the Zip price seemed too good to pass up. The ones I ordered come with the insert. If they don't look too good I'll use the ones from my old panels. I replaced the inserts with the Al Knoch one a few years ago so they are very nice still
