Fan Clutch
I am looking for sugguestions to quite down the engine roar of an 81 Chevy 350. After replacing the bad fan clutch I noticed a loud engine roar as the new GM fan clutch does its job. Can anyone offer any help or tips to reduce the noise?

Install an overdrive transmission (seriously). The engine is turning at higher rpm than modern vehicles (due to the lack of overdrive), so the fan roar is proportionally higher.

I know this may sound odd, but look at the fan when it is running make sure the pitch is right on the blades..mine was doing the same thing and i noticed that i wasnt paying attention when i put the fan back on the clutch and i managed to put it on backwards..
