The CCC Welcomes Lars Home.....

No problem…replace the rear main seal, right? Oops….something wrong here…the rear seal area, including the clutch and pressure plate are were dry. So…we proceded to pull the drive shaft, drop the tranny, pull the bell-housing and clutch assembly out only to find that there was a hair-line crack where the high pressure plug just above the cam plug was located on the block….
Not good at all. A few phone calls by Lars, and soon one of the country's best welders (like Lars, certified for welding in enclosed, high explosive environments…of which, this wasn't…), drove up and determined that this was a “no problem” welding job… Of course, it isn't going to happen immediately, but the engine doesn't even have to come out….
Ain't “resources” great???!!! So, we decided to sit around and enjoy the sun (snow tomorrow in Colorado), light up a few stogies, and have some more brews from the Viking Lounge tap…!
A few pics (naturally): 1) John G., Lars, and Steve start work on the project; 2) Lars pinpoints the crack (felt by touch); 3) Lars enjoys, while peons work…note the Viking facial paint, so critical to CCC successes..; 4) Kurt and Lou enjoy the ambience of the Viking Lounge while the Viking and Steve continue to actually work…; 5) Lars works…the CCC does what it usually does besides drink…..; 6) The CCC sits in the sun enjoying the day, since there is nothing more to be done with John's '64 at present.

I'd like to see some pictures when you get it all done.
I am guessing by the beer steins you guys take the beer side almost as serious as us Aussies!

You better believe we take the beer seriously here...! Everyone has their own assigned Stein, kept in assigned places in the shelf in the CCC "Viking Lounge" bar in my garage. We also have a series of Loaner Steins that are issued to visitors and onlookers who stop by.
Notice in the photos how eager and enthusiastic everyone is to help out. But the instant the kegs blew dry, everyone packed up and left...!
I was so busy sticking my head up underneath the car that I had no idea that they staged that "bowing down" photo until I saw it posted here in the Forum... Those guys are all completely insane. Or maybe just drunk.... I still haven't figured out how they did that without me hearing them planning it or seeing them pull it off...very sneaky...

By the way - Did you notice me using my favorite tool in the first photo...? Hammer and beer!!!!

The photo is a classic. Its going in my archive with the hammer pics. The show turned out great. We had over 100 cars turn up and the weather is still good....well till wednesday.
I enticed people to help me build my garage with beer. Lets just say that some walls aren't quite square. I did get the roof raised two feet with the help of 17 guys, 10 pizzas and 5 cases of beer!
I pulled the carb of STINGRY tonight. Don got the loaner carb also. He should get it on the car tomorrow. You should here the tires screech from your house.
