On a BB 427 I installed this oil pan: MOR-20401 and this oil pump/pickup MOR-22185 . Then I needed a dipstick so I picked up this one: MOR-25970.
The question is how can I determine the proper depth the dipstick should be set since the oil pan is already installed? It is a 6 quart oil pan… so would it work to just add 6 quarts of oil and figure that is the correct amount and set the dipstick to that?
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
Fill it up with oil and adjust the dipstick so the level of the the oil is at the full mark, in your case if it is a 6 qt pan add 6 qts and whatever for the oil filter usually 1/2 qt.
I agree with Motor Head put in oil throw in dip stick pull it out and mark it and that is full. I also like to take a small drill bit and put a whole in the dip stick at just a hair below the mark. That way if you have clean oil it sure makes it easier to see it with it in the hole. . Just an idea though
