77 windshield washer pump

77 windshield washer pump

I put in a new washer pump in and it still doesn't work . I do have power to one side of the plug that goes to the washer pump . Any ideas where to go from here .Thanks in advance for all your help you guys on here are great

Is the other wire properly grounded? Try a jumper wire to the engine block or the frame.

Thanks AkMike .I skinned wire like a 1/4 and put a wire to ground and then found a hot lead under the hood .With the new ground attached it worked ,now all I have to do is install and new ground wire and reattach it to the pump and keep my fingers crossed . Thanks for the advice mike

NP! You'd be better off to find the bad ground and fix that. It'll lead to other problems later on. Glass bodys are hard to ground really good.

WELL GUYS I PUT THE EXTERNAL GROUND ON THEN TURN THE KEY TO THE ON POSITION AND THE PUMPS RUNS BUT DOESN'T TURN OFF .MY THINKING IS IT MIGHT BE THE WASHER SWITCH .tELL ME WHAT YOU GUYS THINK ?

You're getting power to the pump when the keys on? Not hitting the pump switch? Sounds like the switch is bad. Wiggle the switch and see if it'll stop. Don't you love electric problems?

correct Mike turn key on pump runs ..not pushing directional in to activate washer.One small favor is everything else works fine (as of this moment).Don't know where you live Mike but if you are in or around Long Island ,NY come by and take a peek ,I guarentee you there will be cold beer around
