Carb Issues - Need advise
Everything seems pretty good cept there's a slight hesitation when cornering esp left turns. The jets and metering rods are base, the spring I bumped to a 7 in Hg(pink). Idle speed at 850 rpm in park and will increase some on hotter days. The float is skewed but dead on 7/16 in at center. The idle mix screws were set at 5 turns out from box. If I set them by ear and feel(tach/dwellmeter gage not sensitive enough to 20 rpm change) I wind up with 2-2.25 turns out? Backed off to 3 turns out. I wanted to get forum input before I called Edelbrock. I appreciate your help so thanks in advance...

You need a vacuum gauge, about $20 at most auto parts stores.
But first take the carb back off and-
1-take the top horn off and clean the needles and seats.
2-take another look at the floats and bend the tabs so you have 7/16 at the end. 1/2" is also ok, but make sure they are both the same.
3-Use carb cleaner spray and shoot all the passage ways you can, and then follow up with comprtessed air. Those little caves need to be clean.
4-Look at the butterflies. If they expose more than 040" transistion slot, adjust the butterfly with the idle adjust screw to get the slot exposure close to 020".
5-Install the carb.
6-the idle screws should be at 1 1/2 turns out or very near that.
7-plug in the vacuum gauge on manifold vacuum.
8-Start that guy up and let it run through at least one cooling cycle.
9-Now with the vacuum gauge adjust the idle screws carefully to highest vacuum reading. (When I do this I also have the timing light hooked up)
10- adjust between the ignition timing and the idle rpm screw to attain your best level. I think this should be around 750 rpm, 20-21 inches vacuum, and 10-14 degrees initial timing.
Next to consider-
There are three settings for the accelerater pump. Most cars like the middle setting.
Your stock fuel pump can deliever up to 9 lbs pressure. Edelbrocks flood past the needles at 6 or more pounds. You might want a regulator.
