How bout that dollar !
It is Vette related because if our Canadian Peso continues to rise ( actually not going anywhere the American dollar is falling ) and it's at 83c US now, I will not feel as if I am getting fleeced every time I buy a part for my Vette. Fellow Vette owners in the great white north have suffered too long and it looks like we are getting some relief. Don't expect your local parts stores to pass on the good fortune though as we will have to look to the big parts houses south of the border to get the bargoons. I remember when the peso was around 65c US and I bought a $200US set of headers, by the time they got to my door they cost me almost $500CND, what a ripoff ! For our southern neighbours don't feel bad as the line of BS they have been feeding us up here for past decade is a lower dollar is actually good for you, but that's another story.
Anyway the good times are starting to roll, hmmm TKO 600 tranny, stainless headers, beefed up rear end....

The Europeans are getting the same deals on the US Dollar right now, and I've been shipping twice as many parts as usual overseas. Only bad part about this situation here in the States is that this is a time when a lot of nice American musclecars get shipped out of the country, never to return...
Same for us, the Euro is high compared to the $, not that it's doing anything for gas prices but shopping for parts is a lot more fun than it used to be In fact, I can buy stupid stuff like bolts & nuts in the US & have them shipped and still be off cheaper, same with tools & stuff.
Only way I can see low value as a plus is that many of "US" in the US
would seriously consider vacationing in Canada. So, you
may see the US dollars being spent less up there. Plus, it sounds
like there will be more CA dollars spent to the south. That can't
be good for the strength of your economy. Of course, the economy
doesn't (directly) put food on the table - your paycheck does.
The last couple of times I came over to your fair country I was paying 2 Aus $ to the US $. Currently the Aus $ is worth 75 US cents.
Unfortunately I have finished my resto, which is good because I can drive it regularly, but bad because I have already spent the bucks

All the goodies I bought in the last year came from the US, and even with the exchange, customs& taxes,, I came out a winner every time. I do a lot of shopping around before ordering anything, and have my limits when it comes to Ebay. I must admit that the week US dollar is a bonus !!! Just to give you an example; a brand new 1411 edelbrock carb sells for $960.oo cad locally,, I got one brand new in original box, shipping included for 350$cad,,, now that was a deal !!!! not to mention my camel hump heads,, headers etc etc....
