Does anyone know where I can get some information on the number of models produced related to a specific optioned version - I was told by a paint guy that my 1969 Red/Red factory air 350/350 with side pipes was a fairly rare original paint and interior combo specifically with the side pipes - but he of course had nothing to back it up.
12,846 (33%) had the L46.
4,355 (11%) had factory side exhaust.
11859 (31%) had A/C
I don't have the numbers for color, but I'd have a tendancy to side with your mechanic... The side pipes alone are quite rare. I'd think the majority of sidpipe cars are "race" cars without the air and with big blocks. Just because the car is rare, doesn't make it desirable, though...
Take my '73 Capri. Most people don't even know what it is, but nobody would give more than a couple grand for it.

Your question is asked very often. You will see that you can find out (in most cases) how many cars were built with any given option, and for most years paint color is also listed. However, there is no info available on COMBINATIONS of options. Also, I think 69 is one of those years for which paint color breakdown is not available. So we can list the number of cars with A/C and the number of cars with sidepipes, but we can only estimate how many had both.
How can I tell if the sidepipes were original to my 69? It is a matching # L46. There are panels on the backend with cutouts for regular exhaust that were not cutout.

.......also, if you don't have the tank sticker, there are ways to tell if your side pipes are genuine, usually by the type of cover and the mounting hardware........below is a pic of the aftermarket covers.......
Rare, maybe not, but desirable, IMO yes. 350/350 was a great engine and A/C and side pipes were not common but are generally sought after. It's not a 435 hp BB or LT-1 but still a great car. If its a vert, all the better. With the exception of the L88, L89, and ZL1, no 69s were really rare. While there were 12,846 L46s made in 69, there were only 17,316 total Corvettes made in 70.

is it brown? i spent many ahigh school night cruising in my friends capri... i seem to recall there was somthing unique about them when they were introduced... rack and pinion or overhead cam????? do you recall???? any way thks for the memory and i will not make any offers to buy it...
One item concerning the side pipes is the fact that they were not offered until January of 69. So if you car was built before then someone has added the pipes to the car.
I would like to say the same for my find, I own a 69 L71, with F41 suspention and leather gun metal interior, a different combo, it took me awhile to get used to that color sceme. Mine also came with factory off road exaust, and 411 gears!
