Sounds like a good way to end up having to break a window at some point.
It's a very popular mod for street rods and most users install hidden jump cables if the battery dies. The odds of both acuators breaking at the same time is slim.
Absolutely... : ) I'll see if I can repost some pics later. It works. It's very cool. It's kind of a lot of trouble. Some tips and comments:
1. Use a quality alarm system like one from DEI for the remote portion. Tried using a kit setup from AutoLoc and was very dissapointed in the quality (and very pricey!).
2. If the solenoids are in the door, use ones with rubber boots to keep the water out. 50lbs solenoids from AutoLoc lasted about 6 months out here in Hawaii before siezing up.
3. Now using 35lbs jobs from Watson's, which have lasted much longer, but the pull is not quite what I'd like it to be.
4. Apparently saftey checks don't like them very much.
5. Emergency button is a must, as well as exterior battery terminals.
6. Nice to get rid of the huge clunky stock latches for the smaller aftermarket parts.
7. New weather strip put quite a bit of bind on the latch, requiring a lot more pull than I expected. 35lbs solenoids seem to need a lot of help.
