Default cold heat ..opinions

Has anyone tried the new cordless soldering tool that they have been advertising on TV called Cold Heat. If it works like it shows on TV it would be a great tool to have but I am skeptical.
Thanks for any feedback.

Me too! I saw the advertisement. My best guess is that it's something like a spot welder. In the advertisement, someone melts solder and immediatlely afterward presses the tip of the gun on their hand. If it is a spot welder type device, it must apply a voltage to the junction to be soldered. Maybe they have a low voltage, relatively high amperage device to melt the solder. If this is the case, the fact that the gun applies a voltage to the junction means that the advertised soldering gun may stress/destroy any transistor/integrated circuits that are a part of the circuit to be soldered. If this is the case, you'd really have to know more about the circuit details associated with whatever you're soldering. If you're soldering wires, that you know don't have transistor junctions or low voltage sensitive devices attached, maybe it'd be a useful tool.
