I can settle this once and for all....rubber bumpers are Corvette Caprices (Corvette body with Caprice engine). Chrome bumpers are Corvette Stingrays (Corvette body with Corvette engine).
Now let's move on to more important Earth-shattering questions...
Do fuzzy dice have to contrast or match the interior of the car?
Does the bobbing doggy head on the dashboard need to bob up and down or left-to-right in order to be correct?
How many Corvette lovers does it take to remove the body from a Corvette? (Answer: 10...but they never get it off because they argue about stupid stuff like if it's a Sting Ray, Stingray, Corvette, or Caprice)
Stingray....Sting Ray....One Space makes the difference, The term "Shark" is not a badge or an option and realy is not the fish the designer had in mind as a design concept, Its just a a more recognized fish with the gill design displayed on the side of the 68 to 72 Stingrays
we need a sticky for this or something, it seems to pop up every month or so and get like 50 replys where it eventually becomes some sort of fight. People bringing in technicalities proving a 68 was a sting ray, and the 77 and later should be sting ray and this and that and it is really late.
Dep,
Fuzzy dice decorum allows for a wide range of colour combinations. But generally chartreuse, pimp purple and Mary Kay pink are frowned upon. Being a simple person I opted for basic white. There is one no-no for the more elite dice enthusiasts: driving with snake-eyes showing through the windshield. I do not know the reason for that...it's just considered bad taste.
Won a pair of NOS curb feelers on EBay. Christmas is coming early! Can't wait to try them out.
Why I find it interesting and appreciate each view I would like to know if my 80 is a "Shark" "StingRay" or whatever. I might incorporate it in my paint scheem when I paint the car!
Since the C3 was based on the Mako Shark II show car some call them sharks.
Since 63, for 15 years Corvette & StingRay were synonymous.
78-82
78- 25th anniversay of the Corvette- not Stingray. They were already working on the C4 & McLellan had said the styling would be reeled in. 84 induction & 700R4 were in production in 81. So the focus was on the C4.
Can be debated on 78-82. Many changes. Note that the 78- rear glass is reminiscent of the 63-67 coupe.

I for one, appreciate your humour. And maybe you mine. I am an appearance rather than a performance person. No problem on that joke from the outset. Guess what I now have in the basement?
Side pipes to follow with film...in April. Winter is coming down quickly. And the car is gone into storage. This is where I am heading in 2005 without the stripe.
Dobie Gillis and Maynard (1959) might even say this car is "cool." I seem to have heard that word recently somewhere....
