76 Custom Douh!!!! Posted in wrong thread
I have a little 76 Stingray that I am doing alot of custom work to. So far she is stripped and the frame is epoxy coated and I am getting ready to put her back in one piece. I have some questions before I get started. I hope somebody can answer them.
1. How wide can I go with rims before I need to consider the offset trailing arms?
2. I plan on ordering a 454 crate motor, do I need special motor mounts or will it drop right in?
3. I am using a beefed 700R Trany and 2000 RPM stall converter with a 3:48 gear set. Does this sound ok? The 454 crate is in the 435+ HP with 500Ftlbs. The Trany will probably come from BowTie Overdrivew with their cross member.
The body is also getting a lot of custom work. I would like to get rid of the boat tail and graft on a earlier rear end like perhaps a 70 rear. Where can I get just the tail section. (I know it will be a lot of work but I have the time.)
I got the car a long time ago for some low bucks and it was in pretty good shape, It ran good as I drove it for some time, but it is not a numbers match car, and I am doing a full custom, even the cleaned up shark nose is opened up and a fiberglass nose without bumperetts and plate mount are shaved.
Oh yes, I will be selling the 350 and three speed that is in it. I need to pull them. They are in good condition and the 350 is relatively low milage.
