Default Sticky Speedo?

On Cali 1, the speedo will stick at various random points then free it self. When the car is stopped, the needle will often stick at some point stay 20mph. I've found that when I pull on the speedo cable slightly away from the speedo, the needle instantly drops back to 0.

Has anyone experienced this before? Any ideas on how to fix...I think the speedo itself is likely OK but somehow pressure on its drive causes it to stick.

Many thanks for your help!
Joe

Doubt that the speedo is bad. I would lubricate the speedo cable first. Try taking it apart and spraying a good lubricant on the cable. If this doesn't work I'd try a new cable before I had the speedometer rebuilt. My did the exact thing until I lubricated the cable.

Thanks,

I think I'll try lubricating the cable first....can't think what else it might be.
