Greetings from Vettefest PICS

That Gulf L-88 really gets around.
Do you have any L-88 engine pictures?

Do you have any L-88 engine pictures? This is not an L-88. I meet and spoke to the Owner/Driver of this car - John Maher ( he is the guy behind the car in the picture ). He is a real nice fellow. Anyway, this is a real '69 ZL-1. As everyone knows there were 2 ZL-1 sold to the public: 1 is documented and owned by Rogers in Florida, another ZL-1 is at the Petersen in LA ( undocumented ). According to John, there where also 5 COPO ZL-1 that GM produced. I have seen pictures of Zora driving a couple of these on a media day back in "the day", one was white and one was an orange vert. According to John, this car is one of those cars. He didn't know how many of the other 5 survive today, but he thinks there is one other that is documented. He has the tank sheet for this car, and certain unique things on this sheet prove it is a COPO ZL-1.
The cool thing is he still races it and stated that he just got it back for repairs to the front wheel lips due to the harse bumps at Lowes. The VetteFest literature says he still has the orignal motor "in storage since new". John said the current engine in it is making about 900 hp.
Very cool car..
