I got my interior redo mostly completed -- just a couple of odds and ends -- need the storage box lids.
I’m not only a member of the door-panels-are-a-pain-in-the-posterior club, but if nominated would run for club president. I’d rather put a big block in a Vega with a crescent wrench and pair of vice grips rather than wrestle another pair of ill-fitting door panels into a C-3. Hopefully I can track down a better fitting set prior to next springs planned paint job.
I changed a few things -- added a Pioneer in dash CD player, installed a ‘77-’82 C-3 specific Mr. Gasket V-Matic shifter, leather ‘79-’82 seats, later model Camaro seat belts and one of the big things I’ve needed since day one ---- a new quartz clock! I painted the center console, door trim, and steering wheel gun metal gray. I plan to send my original steering wheel off to be restored.
Its been real and its been fun - but it hasn’t been real fun (especially those bleepin’ door panels).
I cut the bracket off of the Camaro belts and used the shoulder piece from a 77 (not mine - I sold mine with the seat origianl belts). I cut the plastic housing off and stuck the retractors under some stock '77 covers -- they retract okay, but the belts do rub on these covers.
most likely I'll paint it the same 77 Corvette dark red --- or something very close.... might go wild --- add a spoiler (thats sitting in my garage now) and put a black strip down the hood and rear deck
Dude!...........Killer Black, Stealth Interior! Almost couldnt see it...LOL
Did U use Sims Upholtery paint? I've got a set of red leather Recarros I'm switching to in my "Bright Blue" interior and I wont to paint them. Just looking for the best paint.
codestar7 -- I just used Duplicolor (found at auto parts stores and WalMarts) -- I bought most interior pieces in black and just refreashed them with the paint -- so if they get scratched hopefully it won't show.
You really did a super job. I wish you could go into a few more details
on painting the gunmetel gray of the door panals & console like prep
techneque and more on the steering wheel, column, & the dash like around the speedo & tach guages. After seeing yours, I am doing mine the same way. As far as exterior color, with the stealthy black interior, codestar7 has it right, it must be a black exterior.
