thanks guys ---

Jimydc --- the gun metal gray was a couple of small cans of touch up paint from a local parts store -- the console is a piece of ABS plastic -- we have a plastic store in Austin -- I've used 1/4" thick ABS for a stereo surround in my '72 Blazer and in other application -- this time I used 1/16" thick --- and cut and 3M double sided taped it to the cut (for the shifter) stock console piece ------ you can see it has a textured finish to it --- as far as prep for the gun metal and vinyl --- I always clean with a good household cleaner and then lacquer thinner (got to be careful some parts will melt under thinner application) and then spray light coats of paint.

The gun metal paint on the gauge housing was sprayed so light the indentions between the gauges and the "allen head bolts" are still black.

again thanks to all -- the sun is finally out here in central Texas - I'm getting the Vette out for a cruise.

I'm thinking the cool new interior should be worth a couple of .10's in the quarter and probably 2 to 3 mile per gallon ---- what do you think?

How did you prep it before spraying it? My interior is red and I want to change it black also? How hard was it to do the dash, especially the dash pad?

Dash pad wasn't to hard I just stuck thick paper down between the windshield and dash and then taped it to the windshield --- you can see a little unpainted area through the windwhield, but with my tan interior haven darked in this area it isn't to bad ------ I did buy a plastic dash cover --- and even after reading how hard it was to install and how poorly it would fit here on the forum -- I had to find out for myself --- so its sitting on my work bench unused ------
