Holley mech. secondaries carb... Depending on your engine - I'd use a 650 or 750 Holley mech. secondaries double pumper...
Well - if you are not concerned about performance - go with the Holley 750 vacuum secondaries...

If you have a stock or moderately modified motor you already have a good carb. There isn't anything better if it's tuned right.
Holley 600 or 650 double pump mechanical secondaries. You'll get a nice crisp throttle with low end torque and no bog. When the mechanical secondaries come in you'll have the rpm's to deal with it.

Is your engine modified? The Holley/BG's can be easier to tune but a good Q-Jet will easily feed a modified motor, deliver good driveability and mileage. People have run 12's with Q-jets and I am feeding a 400 horse motor with one.
Swapping the carb with no other mods will do very little if the original was in good shape. Obviously, if your carb is in bad shape then any carb will be an improvement.

If you intend to retain your stock intake manifold you need to stay with a Q-Jet. Holley and BG use square bore patterns and will not bolt up to the stock intake.

The carb is only one piece of the puzzle. You cannot simply slap a fancy new carb on there and expect a performance improvement. Think of the whole system instead -- in this case, it would be carb, intake, headers, and exhaust.
