MSD Ignition ?

MSD Ignition ?
After reading about the benefits and features of the MSD 6AL it sounds like something I want to put in my car (78 with 454). I like the rev limiter feature. I do have some questions for interoperability between the stuff I already have:
1. Mallory Comp 9000 distributer with Mallory coil 29440 (never used)
2. Stock Hei distriubuter - used until engine was torn down this fall.
Can I use the MSD with any of the electronic I already have, or do I need another distributor - what else do I need to buy to make the MSD work (you can tell I don't know a thing about this )?
Is the Mallory equipment I have any good - don't see it much anymore? I'm only expecting the engine to turn about 500 RPM over stock when done with mods.
