Default headers

I hope this hasn't been posted a few thousand times before:

I currently have shorty headers installed - the previous owner installed them, obviously he did not want to go through the pain of installing long tubes.

I guess that there are no big (if any) power gains over the stock manifold.

What about these inexpensive long tubes from Summit or Jegs ? They have several headers in their catalog for $100 - $200 , painted black of course, not coated ....

Something in the back of my mind is telling me not to buy them.... does anybody have these ?

I have them, painted black. They didn't make it onto the car because i got a good deal on some others. If you want them (they are for a small block) I'll give them to you for $75. They are brand new, but they don't really look that great. If you wanna give them a shot just let me know. rchase@ucsd.edu

I kind of like the shorty headers. You're probably right that the performance isn't up to full headers, but I would think it's a little better than the ram's horns.
