Default Corvette Free Speech?

If there is one thing that really lights a fire under me, it's seeing a big well funded organization go after the little guy and impinge upon his (and ultimately all of our) right to free speech.

I'm sitting here thinking that for all our support for some individuals over the society going after and intimidating and threatening legal action to a couple of invididual C3 forum members right to free speech - maybe we should put our money where our virtual mouths are?

If any of the victims are accepting and if others agree - I don't think it would be a bad idea for folks to send a few bucks each. Say a mere $5 minimum? A gift or donation w/ nothing expected in return. One individual has already scheduled an appointment w/ a lawyer. That's money out of his pocket from where I'm sitting.

An option for doing this annonymously may also be in order. I know at least a few within the society that are completely embarassed by this and may very well also wish to support the individuals being threatened. But understandably they may wish to remain annonymous. And given what I've learned about these lists being maintained, I can certainly respect that.

Anyway just an idea I'm sharing among other C3ers to thrash around amongst yourselves and consider - I really don't know if it's a good idea or how to go about it short of a stamp, an envelope and a check or some paypal donation setup. And if there is anything left over I say the victim(s) go out on the town and have a nice evening w/ your family. Heck if there's enough of us - go take a trip to Disneyland for all I care! Anybody who in this day and age of 'big money' justice who still stands up for their friggin' right to free speech deserves more than that in my book!

I'm willing to go along with this route if it comes down to a lawsuit. I think it's a pretty good idea and I'm suprised no one has brought it up yet.

Over 4500 veiws on the NCRS thread so far. Evidently a lot of people as interested in this subject.

If Lotahp and Gator are willing to stand up to the NCRS for their rights to free speech, I for one am willing to help back them monetarily.

If this does come down to a lawsuit, this route is the only way feasible, that I can see, that they can continue. I'm sure their rights are very important to them, but their families have to come first and the NCRS has deep pockets.

We all talk about freedom on this forum in one form or another, Let's see how many are all talk. It's getting close to shut up or put up, folks.

Norm let us know what the lawyer says.

I'm not real sure what the problem is here. Seems I saw something about the use of "NCRS" by someone other than NCRS. Which NCRS? I know which one we are referring too but that's my point; there are too many NCRS groups for one to say they have been infringed upon! Those of us who own the cars aren't worried about the simalarity; we know the difference. The lawyers for NCRS probably do not own a vette anyway. I have no use for any organization that trys to intimidate or bully individuals in this way. The "NCRS" is really scoring points with vette owners by doing what they are doing. I would be willing to help fellow vette owners with a donation. I cannot believe this has been blown out of proportion over something so trivial in the grand scheme of things.

This thing has blown way out of proportion. I predict there will not be any lawsuit. This was just a warning.

We need to establish a collection to get "Not Correctly Restored Stingray" registered. Now I'll throw a few bucks in for that. .

I'm in.

IMO the National Cash Register Society is insulted by us pee-on's who have the wrong alternator.

The mere fact of consulting an attorney will usually cost some bucks. Then there's the retainer.

Maybe I can put a little ad up on my web page?

Default Ncrs

I'v been a Corvette nut most of my life. I like all of them, restored, survivors and modifieds. My preference is modified as my 81' gets further from stock with every dollar I spend. We are all suppossed to be in the Corvette hobby and if my failing memory servers me, all Corvettes were built by GM. It really gripes me when one segment of a hobby starts to look down on another and thinks they are superior to the rest. My guess is that the average member of the NCRS would not have a problem with the "Not Correct...." This the idea of some small pea brained administrator who likes to exercise his power. I hope you hang in there and tell them to take a flying ....... at one of their correctly restored 53' hubcaps.
