Default Parts Washer (recommendations)

Early Christmas present from my wife... well, she has agreed to support my buying one...(my choice)...

Need input from everyone as to what brad/model you would get. Manufacturer and model would be great... a web link would be very helpful...

Thanks, Ed

Come on now twin lol

I think if it comes to price you might look into your local Northern tool and supply house. They have a good selection that wont run away with your wallet.

mine is $119 dollar special from Harbor Freight about 22"-24" x 34"-36"
on stands with a recirculating pump...it works great....something to think about would be to get one that has some sort of heater in it to warm the water.... I didn't notice where you live before i started typing...but up here in Feb. the parts water is really cold and we have to come up with interesting ways of heating the water etc,etc,etc....

and we use greased lighting in it

IF you want the truth, buy a black plastic mixing tray at HD or Lows meant for mixing concrete/mortar.....use gasoline, and leave it out with plywood cover for overnight soaking....

done all the rest, and NOTHING is an effective as gasoline....

smells are another story, and not for indoor....

I got my parts washer from our local Northern Tools store. It is the 20 gallon with the re-circulating pump. I payed $80 for it.

Works best with Varsol instead of the water based solvant they recommend.

YES, Varsol is another great one, but less commonly available...and so everyone had a lawnmower gas can....

I was dead serious. Anyway, I have several home made parts washers, basically they are large drums with different chemicals in them (alkalyc degreaaser, petroleum, and another type of bio degreaser), they have a fuel pump inside and a foot switch, the rest is jsut a hose w/ a PVC pipe at the end holding a bristle. I have yet to find something that I can not get thoroughly clean.

Thanks for the input... Am in Dallas and have a Northern close.

Will check them out. Will definitely look for a heated model.

I'm picking up a dishwasher like Marck suggested. They may not be for the inital cleaning but they would be great for the final step! What would you use Twin Turbo? Dishwasher detergent or TSP and Bleech? jim

Harbour Freight parts washer with recirculating pump. I use kerosene for the cleaning solution.
