Lower right-hand side of the radiator -- should be a brass petcock. Easy to see. But perhaps yours doesn't have one...

Removing the lower hose works quite well though.

Certainly not a dumb question. I was under an 82 last week and noticed there was a plug in the radiator instead of the petcock drain. This was a very original car too. You can pull the lower hose but they can be a bear to get back on sometimes and may be stuck. I would check the for the plug in the lower right corner or buy one of those drill pumps that use a garden hose to pump out the radiator. I used one and it worked pretty good, drained about 95% of the radiator.

I can't help with your problem but I can tell you this...the only dumb question is the one not asked.

alot of the reproduction radiators don't have one. I've got a 75 radiator without one. Its not that hard to pull the lower coolant hose off. Plus you get the added bonus of getting coolant all over the garage floor when you do it.

Better to ask than to guess - do a Bubba - and then be on here asking how to fix what you did... Don't ask how I know!

on some radiators, especially if it's a replacement, the petcock may be under the radiator mount, where you can't get to it. yank the hose.

On my 73 I have a bolt at the bottom of the radiator under the lower radiator hose location. If you are facing the car, it would be on the lower left side of the radiator.

Since the lower radiator hose might not come off so well, you can always just poke a hole in the hose and buy a new one. Mine was stuck on there and no amount of anything would bring it off so I just cut it off and bought a new one.
