Hey, I am ventouring in to the engine compartment. Can anyone tell me what the gap on the spark plugs should be on a 79 corvette I believe it is a L-48.

If you're runing HEI ignition with the stock compression ratio, use .045". If you have high compression (above 10:1), run .035".

What if you are running 10 3/4 CR and have a full MSD ignition?

I have dynoed motors with compression anywhere between 9.0-1 and 16.0-1 with MSD ignition and never found it to be a benifit to run gaps larger than .035. It will still work with the larger gaps but there is no gain and you put more stress on all the ignition components.

As long as your motor is pretty much stock the gap should be .045" with the stock HEI distributor.
