Default MIG welding...no gas?

Is there a way to keep the "splatter" to a minumnum and not get "burn" marks from the sparks?

I've tried using the mig welder nozzle dip and it seems to ward off most of the spatter.... and doesn't screw up the weld any.

With flux-core? No, I'm not aware of anything you can do to avoid splatter. Flux-core is messy.

With gas, using a 80/20 Argon/CO2 mix will produce much cleaner welds than pure CO2.

Our company makes anti splatter that you spray down first and it really reduces the splatter and the spatter does not stick and leave marks.

anti spatter sprays, they are commonly available but best would be ar/co2 mix (co2 alone will spatter also, the argon makes the gas less reactive)

Are you ready for this, its called Anti Spatter. Our company Lenox saw blades makes this stuff in our fluids division. We are known for our saw blades but got into this also. I'd love to be able to send you all samples but I just don't have enough. Most welding supply houses have this stuff Lenox Anti Spatter or something similar to this. Many companies make this stuff but ours is enviromenatlly friendly and does not use propellents Bla Bla Bla. I'm on my selling band wagon here.

I'm guessing this is it:

OK - I was wrong ... but there are many brands out there.

Could not find the Lenox brand through Grainger but they stock 5 pages of your other products, you should see if you can get it in there, would prolly bring in a good amount of sales.

Grainger is one of our best catolog suppliers. They sell a ton of our products. The Anti Spatter is fairly new so it might not be in the catolog yet.

Spray it on before welding. The fumes are not bad at all. No worse than just plain welding. (At least ours is not toxic).

I have a 'flux core' welder - yes it's messy... Whenever possible I use aluminum foil to keep the splatter from sticking to the metal - works fine...
