I just got hold of a good original top dash pad to replace the sun-cracked one in my 76 Coupe.
I've never installed an upper dash pad, but I've removed a couple and remember them binding between the windshield posts and having to be bent in order to get them out.
As this is a 30 year old part I'm installing, I hate the idea of bending it to get it in past the posts, for fear of breaking/cracking it.
You will have to bend it a little, just make sure the part is warm. I left my new one out in the hot sun upside down for a few hours and it really softened the backing so the bend was easy.

Any suggestions?
When I replaced my interior, I had very good success by using a heat gun for gentle bending.....just be careful not to overheat any one spot & everything should fit smoothly.
