There's a Corvette show taking place on the 11th near me at a Hooters my friends and I frequent. One of my lights won't lower and I have been putting off the headlight troubleshooting for a while for bigger problems. But now that those are done, I don't think I have enough time to fix my headlights before the show. Finals are creeping up on me. Is there a way to lower that headlight temporarily for the show? I don't care about placing, but I would like to avoid having the lights up or "winking" during the show. Any help? Can I manually lower it somehow? (I know my manual says forcing it down will damage it, and i'm not even thinking about forcing anything.)
you can reach under and undo the support. Lemme try to descrbe this. You're going to have to drive in there with the lights up. Once you're there turn off the motor get out and pull gently on this...
by sticking your arm up behind the grille, you might have to push down from above very slightly. But it should not be at all difficult to push it down. Mine falls down as soon as i give a little tug where i circled. DO NOT FORCE IT DOWN.
Try it once before you go to the show so you don't look like a total idiot.
From: I can explain it to you, but I can't comprehend it for ya.
My left one will sometimes stick open after turning off the lights.
Heres what I do, See the pic that Mike posted? See the rod above the red circle on his pic (the one with the springs mounted on it)? I can reach under there and gently pull downward on it and it will unlock the light and it will then close on its on.
Thanks for the picture. I'll test this out on Sunday.
Also, I was thinking... If I remove both vaccum lines from the actuator, can I move the actuator in and out freely? Or is it somehow locked internally unless there is a vaccum present to move it?
