Heck, at least this community stays engaged. There are other Corvette forums where I can visit once a week and still don't have to read a full page.

The only down side I have is when I went to find an old thread on mine it was on page 13 after a week. And the search function would not find it (even by name). I am a little annoyed with the search function.

I usually keep quiet about this stuff, but I will never understand all the griping about the forum. Variety is the spice of life. Too much of anything, including tech, is not necessarily a good thing.

I learn a lot on this forum, but I also enjoy the "small talk".

It's time to move on.......

The reason I like this forum is because there are new threads almost hourly, the other forums you can check once a week and if your lucky you might get one or two replies to your post

Being a new member, I try to read every post to see if there is any knowledge or insight to be had to help with my 79 work in progress. I have since learned to look at the names before I read the posts. When I see some names I realize there will be no information gained from reading their garbage. I like seeing the members have fun with one another, the comraderie that has obviously developed needs to be incouraged, not discouraged, by those who use the forum as a gossip room to expound on their personal lives, rather than adding something significant to the forum. Not only do I use the forum to get vital information that, quite honestly, I do not think, can be found anywhere else; I also use it to see if there is a post that I might be able to help someone with. I would like to see the day come when someone posts "hey Bernie what do you recommend for this problem, you have done that before". Then I know I have reached the point where I can help as well as being helped. Maybe its not the best it can be right now, but without the forum and the mainstay individuals that contribute day in and day out, you are appreciated and admired for what you contribute! My $0.02!!!!

This forum in many ways reminds me of a bunch of car guys getting together at someone's garage to help diagnose a problem. Some are just BS'n about the football game, a couple others are talking about their GF's, some might be talking about Iraq, or about a new car they're considering etc....you get the image.

That's how I view the forum, having all the discussions together, I can eaves drop on everybody's conversation and add some comments IF I want. If we were to split the forum up, I'd have to go to another members garage to hear what the other guys are talking about.

Oh, and actually there might be one guy helping me diagnose my carb problem.

I haven't talked a lot of tech stuff because I haven't had a lot going on with my car right now. It's good to know that if I need some tech information, there are plenty of knowledgeable people on the forum who may be able to help me out. I just like hanging around with folks that share the hobby. It's not the Corvette that makes the people, it's the people that make Corvette what it is.

If you search the following you will get posts back to 08/2001

use your jughead in the "search by user name" note you can find either posts or threads started by you.

Then under search options, at the second choich down "find posts from", select yesterday and the move over to the and at the right and select the older option.

I got 2pages of threads and four of posts going back to 08/2004.

PS: forgot to say use the advance search feature

Hope this helps you.

This forum takes a while to load, even on a fast PC with a high bandwidth connection. I can't imagine surfing this forum with dialup!

It certainly is set up to retain posts for too long. If you look, you can actually scroll past to a thousand pages of postings. It should retain things for 30 days and that's it.

Just my humble opine.

that's just it. there used to MANY more expert gearheads/restorers on this board, but as traffic increased, they have disappeared. too much stuff to sort through and too little appreciation.

I tried every combination possible....Nothing for me for 2002-2003.

Even Troy tried. If you find any from 2002-2003 could you email me the links?

I guess you haven`t heard!! "he who dies with the most posts wins"...I have been a member since like day 2 and have yet to figure exactly what he (or she) actually wins but with the amount of useless posts on this forum it must be something good....and what about that other line of nonsence "there are No stupid posts"?? whoever said that one needs his head examined!! with a 2 by 4.....

Howard I couldn't agree with you more. One of the features I like about this new forum software is the "ignore" feature. When you add a couple of posters to your "ignore" list the threads become much shorter and easier to read and respond to.

Yes, it is a nice feature, even though some posts may get confusing when posts are missing. I never had someone in my ignore list until recently, a new member decided this was the place to swamp in nonseless BS posts (something like 10 new posts in 1 day). It's so much cleaner now

I don't have a solution to this problem. Some posts are so extremely vague, I never even look at them. Others, are of obvious little interest to me. A lot are quite interesting. I wish we could keep the highjackings and the meaningless posts to a minimum. (I really don't care about a survey on how many owners have black Corvettes in any model years.)

I will tell you one thing that doesn't help, breaking the C3 forum into a lot of subsections.

I regularly help the Chevelle and Camaro enthusiasts. The have many, many different subforums. All that does is make me look at even more
places because I might have questions in the following subforums:

Tech 2004 Can I change a column shift strg colum for a floor shift column? -- what additional parts do I need?
Restoration Centers What color is a 67 Chevelle strg column? -- does it fit a 1968?
Brakes and Suspensions Do I need a new steering column if I
change to power steering gear?
Electrical & Wiring Is my turn signal switch bad? How do I tear my steering column apart to change it?
Troubleshooting Why don't my turn signals work? -- Flasher unit? Bulbs? Strg Column?

Guess what? There is a possible steering column question involved in most of the above. Each question could involve a couple different areas. You need to read each of the postings to find out exactly what is wrong or how things can be corrected.

The Chevelle and Camaro forums could use less catagories. Maybe the Corvette Forum could use one or two more.

I wish that I had a good solution.
Jim, you are right. Been a member for a long time and we have a member who has been here since November of this year, and I don't think even owns a Corvette, with 7.25 posts per day! As a long time Corvette owner, I could not answer 7 questions a day.

As the BOYZ say, WTF!!

Default Great forum for just the cost of internet access.

"This Forum Has Too Many Postings!"

Ok here's my 2 pennys so find a chair to either sit on or smash the tube with. This is just a big public party for vette owners and mtr heads too. We may have to deal with all levels of experience and mentality but it is basicaly free. I feel i've met some very nice people here and learned a lot too. Gotten some vital info just when i needed it.
There is no fix to making every post an enlightening experince otherwise i'm sure it would be in use already. And we are all humans that even when having all good intentions can make mistakes and errors - some big mistakes too.
It burns me up when someone continues to spread what i think is BS . And i've had some poop thrown on me for my opinions too but its still a great forum and place to blab about cars 24 hrs a day. When your visiting friends for a beer ya expect to relax and laugh a bit. When ya party in a public place ya have to be ready to deal with strangers and some drunk ones too. Best part is i can talk about whatever i want and tell someone/everyone whatever i think about a post. Wether thats good or bad to argue in public i can't decide but i can see that truth rules. No matter how many are convinced of the wrong idea one can still post what he thinks is the answer and only the right answer/solution can win. This is were the rubber meets the road and only truth will work and make the tires go roundy roundy.
I've seen copy cat vette forums that look just like this one but they have limits on use/posts and don't seem as alive as this place in space. With supporting user features i can get pretty much read what i want how i want it and for free. The only feature i would like to see expand is the tech section and maybe use some type of pro vs con or how to vs don't do it rebuttle statments for popular technical problems.
Well that my song for today and hope u enjoyed the tune. cardo0
