these cars are pure emotion and everyone gets excited about there question....sure, as we get more experience we become more resourceful, but we all started out at the bottom at one point... when i was at the bottom we didn't have an internet....heck most of us didn't have color TVs...i learned my stuff running to get tools for the dads and older kids from there tool chests... I still remember it.. "no son thats a socket, a combination wrench is the one thats open on one end and closed on the other"... i have never forgotten how i learned....now we have the internet.... its exactly like someone else said (maybe it was jughead)....lots of different discussions at the party...I just ignore the silly posts..... so any way I have been meaning to ask... "my headlights don't open, has this ever happen to any body else... "
A big part of the against voters didn't even have a c3 and were round up from OT
Now,
who woulda gone and done a thing like that?
maybe a certain dude from california?
sooner or later enough people are gonna get pissed off and the correct and logical thing will be done.
Look at how much havoc can be wrought by a new member in just a few weeks. The rest of us have 23+ year old cars we need to keep running. Serious business.
I was in the Navy, I was In Vietnam, I was stationed on a River Patrole Boat, I've "Blown a few things out of the water"! A 45 / 47 vote is NOT blown out of the water, Its not a mandate either...LOL, Basic Math agrees.
Heck, at least this community stays engaged. There are other Corvette forums where I can visit once a week and still don't have to read a full page.
Now I've only been around here since august or so, no I don't own a vette (yet), but I think the above statement prety much sums up what it is about this place that keeps me coming back day after day. There is always something vette related to read here. Even if it's the 450th post about what size 17" tire someone is trying to stuff under the back end with double offset trailing arms and some flares they bought off fleabay...it beats the other vette sites that have 4 new topics with 2 replies after a week.
This place is kinda like a tv set. If ya don't like a topic for whatever reason, don't read it. But there at least is a whole lotta choices to choose from. Find whatever it is that you like here and be happy.
if people dont like it here my .02 is they should just leave,, like your t.v. turn it off .. they can always go to ---alt autoscorvette in the newsgroups -those posts dont roll for a week or so, can stare at the same thing all day--im 48 going on 49 i wonder when i qualify for ''old school''---heck im probably closer to ''gereatric school''-whats the difference anyway- they roll-- ilike the john kerry comment--a friend said he looks like the mask from the movie ''scream''---i call him ''skellitor''
I like the forum. Lots of good stuff, plenty of excellent reading. Priceless help from others, for free. I disagree with the splitting the forum idea. It seems that generally, people who post 'dumb' threads often put them in the wrong section anyways. I enjoy having lots of good material to read about, even if it doesnt apply to my vette project in particular. I also appreciate the patience and kindness of the people on this forum. Unlike many other forums, I dont see a lot of name calling and inmature bickering on this site. The general climate of the forum seems to be that of a willingness to share info, and help others. That keeps me coming back. Just fix the search function!
It's not as bad as it's been. During the winter, more projects are going on and help topics seem to be popping up. Right now it seems to be about 50% repeats, 44% new stuff, 5% crap, and 1% of showing someones wifes butt(that should be about 5% in my book).
In my opinion, Jim should have his own section. "Ask Jim Shea" a question.

I missed the wives butt's again!
The separate section should be Ask Jim Shea, Norval and Twin Turbo a question. They we could have our new archive section.

100% - this forum is great, there's something new every day...
I usually keep quiet about this stuff, but I will never understand all the griping about the forum. Variety is the spice of life. Too much of anything, including tech, is not necessarily a good thing.
I learn a lot on this forum, but I also enjoy the "small talk".
It's time to move on.......
I do not have any problems with the forum the way it is. These threads are always
It's that time of the season. Everyone up north is tucking away
their babies. I did see a few C4s yesterday - and a local 69
out today. Lots of people get itchy without their vettes - and
start posting like crazy - sometimes BS. Then you have the
occasional newbie that is over eager and posts 20 times a day.
Perhaps a daily posting limit (on newly created posts) - say
five a day limit. That's already enough for a general/tech forum.
I think this might work ,,, and please both US and THEM.
I like the way the C3 forum is now. It only takes me a few minutes to read the posts I'm interested in. I am far from an expert on these cars....many members are. I like to take the time to read what they say. If it's a topic I have no interest in...I just move on. I wouldn't change a thing..it's great the way it is. Some of the most knowledgeable car people I've ever seen....even if we don't always agree on everything !
when i bought my 74 in march 03 i didn't know much. i worked on a few in the garage at work, but nothing like mine now!
yes there are a lot of postings. some that can be considered frivilous.but it's how i have learned alot about my car and about the people here(i.e. the wonderful free xmas)
Jewlia, don't you apologize for anything. I for one am glad you are here and enjoy your posts. I love it when people in, whatever they do, show alot of enthusiasm. I think that catches on with everyone. So don't you give it a second thought and keep on posting.
