I got 33" on the dot at this measurement to my Astro Top.
I would call this 31.5" to the plastic liner of a T-Top.
Not sure how this could be seeing Pats results....

I think this may be a mute point. sitting in my present seats, I have 3+ inches before I hit the inside roof.

I'm planning on removing the t-tops and keeping these fold-up soft tops in the back, just in case. For my use of the car, I really don't need the T-tops in all the time. I've never been in the rain with my Vette.

So I think I should have enough room.

Great question/answers --- my recently installed 80 seats in my '77 are 34" seat bottom to t-top interior panel.

I have a set of moon roofs coming.........

Scooch down. I know it`s not really a word, but I believe you know what I mean. On trips, i`m everywhere, I cannot really find a good position. A possible solution is to remove some foam from the bottom seat.

Hey Len where did you get those soft tops, are they available for an 80?
Thanks,
Keith

Having been 6'4" since 7th grade Wally, I'm familiar with "scooch." Do you sell seat covers for C5's too?

Thanks,

I bought them from a forum member a few months ago. Been waiting for a set to appear for a long time. I missed out on several sets. I'm not entirely familiar with the history but I think they were last manufactured in the late '70's. I guess demand fizzled and production stopped. Every now & then a set will appear on the forum & ebay. For once I was in the right place at the right time. They attach in the original t-top mounts although I may need to drill one hole at the rear pillar...maybe 1/4".

They're made of a material similar to the old convertible tops and they fold in half to the combined size for 2 where a single top would fit. Folded, both take up as much space as one original t-top. Great for my use, now I plan to shelve my original t-tops and just keep these folded in the back as a backup in case of inclement weather. Hmmm..wonder if I can run my racing stripe over them?

I have racing harness's in mine hooked to my roll bar .Len,my measurement was without ttops on since there off the car while im painting,so that measurement was right to edge of where the ttop would start.Get it?Take your ttop off and measure it that way to see how so close we are.

I got the same measurements with the t-top off. Measured both straight up (90deg angle) and at the angle of the current seat back I'm getting 34.5". I measured from the lowest point of the seat, where the seat bottom intersects the seat back.

I found a beautiful set at a great price so I think I'm going to proceed. All things considered, I think they'll work, or I'll get them to work.

Len,

Mine measures 33 3/8th's on a verticle measure from where the seat back meets the seat bottom. I'f I tilt the tape back from verticle towards the seat back, I get 33 1/2, which is about where my head would be positioned.

If that's the case Jay, and your head is hitting the roof and I still have 2-3 inches before I hit the roof, I'd say all my height is in my legs and my torso is shorter. Like Gene stated.

I have had my C5 seats in since spring '03 and would never go back to my originals. I am 6'1" and height of them is not an issue although with the roof down (99%) I have to look either over the windshield or "scrootch" down a bit to see the traffic lights as the sun visor comes right into my level of sight at the stop lights. I also installed a tilt/tele column as that addition 1.25 - 1.5" of seat height just made getting in an out too difficult and the driving position potentially dangerous for me.

Default Tall

I'm 6'4 and a half, I've allways baught T-Top cars for that reason, Vettes, Datsun Z's even the 914 and the 911's were targa tops. I fit fine in my 73 C3. It has T-tops I get a 35 inch measurement. My seats are pretty worn in the bottom and the cushion is sallowed though, blue cloth interior....I like it. I'll probably reengineer my seat brackets when I put in the leather recarros but its fine for now.
