Tall C3 drivers....
could you tall guys (>6'3") do me a favor? Measure your seat to roof distance (coupes). From the seat at the intersection with the seat back to the roof, at an almost perpendicular line (90deg). Please post your findings and also what type of seat you are using. Original seat, stock seat recovered, racing seat, C4 seats etc.
I'm trying to determine if my originals are badly worn and also if I have enough head room at 6'4" to use C5 seats.
I would but I can't until this weekend- Vette is in storage here in Chicago.
I do know that with my stock seats my head was pretty close to the stock T-top liners. I went to the Astro-top and got a good 2-3 inches more. Not that my head ever hit before, but it just seems "roomier" now.
well i'm not big ( 5'10" ) but mine measures 35" but that is with C4 seats and the headliner removed for racing. The instructor usually is taller than me and needs extra headroom.
The C3 sure ain't friendly for tall people but i actually like the tighness of the cockpit on these cars. Price you pay...you guys can't fly fighter jets either.
I supposed the floor could be cut out and reworked by hand laying new fiberglass if you want to get serious about it.
I'm 6'2" and I used to just fit until I installed new seat covers with new foam, now I brush up against the headliner. I'm gonna try and save up a few bucks and pick up a set of glass t-tops, hopefully that will get me another inch or so of headroom.

Hey Kevin, how do you like that astro-top. Leaks? Headroom? Storage behind the seats?
My 79 is at 36 3/4" with the stock (pace car style) seats and glass tops. I am 6'4" and have a small amount of head room this way. With the painted tops my head is tight to the trim panels.
I can't say what any other car, let alone stock ..was...is....
but I am 6'5" and weigh ~220 or so....problem is....I have an extra vertebrae in my lo spine, bad back....and so have a long torso compared to some, everyone has a bit of disproportionate measurements, situation normal...
at any rate, I chopped the lower back supports off the tracks, , and chopped out the rugs/liners from under the front supports...
this lowered my seat by ~2" or so, I have retained the old padding through two seatcover changes now, and pulled out springs from the seat bottom....makes for LO profile seating...
another thing, I cut the lower bottom of the floorboard into a U shape, and swung it forward about 3" on bottom edge, backfilled with glass...and cut/welded the pedals forward about 2-3 inches also....makes my knees go off the wheel, and that's a '78 type TT and wheel....forget the stock '72 large diameter POS....
now all that and my wife drives it still....to work today in fact...
she is 5.5 feet....

Hey Len,
I am 6'3'' and I had my stock seats recovered and new foam inserted.
With the seats sitting on the floor pan without insulation or carpet, it is easier for me to look over the roof with the tops off than to look though the windshield.
My line of sight is right in the middle of the T-top frame.
Hope that helps, or at least puts it in perspective.

Thanks Pat, if that's the distance from the "butt" area to the t-top liner than I think I'm in business. That's about the distance I have now and I still have about 2 inches before my head touches the t-top liner. Maybe all my height is in my legs.
