The key to a successful marriage is communication!
You need to make her understand how important your vette is to you. To most women, " it's just a hunk of metal."
To you it's, "Pride, satisfaction, relaxation, a work of art, your identity, your addiction, etc."
Sit your wife down and spill your guts, women love that. If she still dosen't understand than you shouldn't feel guilty for working on it.
GO WITH THE VETTE!!!!!!
A wife and a vette don't have to be mutually exclusive of each other. Balance your time and have fun with both. My wife understands that the vette is my hobby and escape from the pressures of work. Once she realized this, she became far more understanding of the car. Now I'm getting my 2 young sons involved in the car which gets them excited. Again my wife apprciates this...combining family and hobby.

Amen brother!!!
Good to see you got the vette back again...
Been married 9 years and would give up the vette and every other toy before giving up on my marriage. Family first. My vette sees little or no time as a result. I keep it because I can. The time wil come that she or the kids want to work on it.
The fact that this question was even raised and that so many are joking about it is sad.

The day I allow a woman (or anyone) tell me how much time/money I can spend on my interests, hobbies or vices, is the day I'll hand over my nutz.

My thoughts exactly. This makes it easier to get the wife to agree with you when you need to spend mucho dollars on your vette.

First thing I did was start taking her to our Corvette Club Meetings and got her involved. I also manage that website, so she gets to provide input on it too.
So now, when I go on a Vette run with the club, she is always Right There!

It's not because she changed her heart and likes it so much ... they will want it to spite you and then beat the **** out of it, lol!!

My wife will never be interested in my Vette like I am. Not even close. Women like stuff like closeness, sensitivity, and conservation. Men like cars, sports, and women . . hopefully their wives if they're married. I tried to talk my wife into going to the annual Ecklers show in FLA back in October. She said "Go ahead and go. I don't care for cars anyway". I'd be pretty lonely w/o her. So I didn't go. Maybe next year. Plenty of Vettes around. Not many good women.
When I was considering buying the Vette, I was hemming and hawing on the decision because I really could not justify spending all that money on a money pit. I felt guilty for even wanting to spend the money. Then I told my wife about how in 1968, as a 7 year old boy in Wheaton, Illinois, I saw my first C3 parked on a side street and thought, "That's the coolest car ever!! I have to get one some day". She looked me straight in the eye and said, "You HAVE to buy this car". Once she realized that this was a life-long childhood dream and not just a crazy impulse, she was all for it. Even when I talk about selling it, she argues with me that I cannot sell that car.
Same thing happened with an old picture of a train I have in my office. She hated it and wanted to throw it out until I told her how I was always a steam engine nut as a kid, and the pastor of our church (who was a steam engine nut too) gave me the picture when I was 4 years old. She took it out, had it restored and put a $250 frame around it!!!
I find, when my wife knows the story and reason behind it, when she can understand the importance of it, she always supports me.
That being said, to repay her understanding, I took two years to re-build my rear and front ends. I took the time so that I could make sure I was giving her attention and time too, getting things dome around the house, and so I didn't selfishly use all the expendable cash on my hobby.
Next September, it will be the BIG TWO OHHHH!!
Good luck man.
