Default Fast Dash?

My dash is in pretty good shape (1980 Oyster), except one crack that runs from top heater vent down. It's faily wide. I have seen replacement dash's for about 500. Are they worth it? How difficult is it for a limited handyman like myself to put in? Hours, days, weeks? THanks.

I think it is worth it. I like a nice, clean interior. I think you could do it with limited skill, in maybe a full weekend. Just go slow, and use lots of digital pictures, and masking tape labels (on any wires you disconnect) to record your progress so it will go back together easily. Just my opinion, but I've never done it on an 80, only on a 75. Maybe there are some other concerns.

good luck

Cris

I would think you should be able to do it in a weekend. Unless of course that SOB "while im at it" doesn't get to you like he did me. Took me a year

I did my 81 2 years ago- I got my dash from al kosh. I wanted to change color from red to black. It was alot of work- 1 weekend. Alot of triming and lining stuff up. The best advice is get the air vent and glove box all lined up and bolted to dash before you install. That glove box was hard to install and get straight afterwards. Here is a web site with pictures.

All th pictures look great. It's a little scary though. I never considered how many wires I'd have to deal with. I just know I'd get the whole thing back together and something wouldn't work.

I think it may be worth trying though. It's a fresh look.

if you go the replaement route remember, you'll probably get a plastic dash, not a ''skin ''origional- thats why i chose the crack repair route----here's a photo of bottom of dash pad,,showing the ''skin''-----------
