I'm using Nationwide as my Policy holder on my 69 Corvette Conv. For about the same $$, would I get better coverage going with a Speciality Classic Auto Type Insurance Company and which ones could some of you recommend?
Hagarty here, too. Hard to wrong with them--they've got a great rep, are easy to deal with, and are cheap. My '69 vert costs me less that $250 a year for full coverage with $25K agreed value.
OK, Great info! Thank you for the information. I knew the guys here on the C3 forum would know a better Insurance company to go with. I'll check into Hagarty then and visit their website at http://www.hagerty.com
I visited their website and got an online quote. I was impressed, Not Bad! ALOT Cheaper than my current annual $330 Nationwide Policy!!!!
Now, I find myself wanting to say..."I just saved a ton of Money of my Car Insurance!"
Question? Has anyone had any experience with a claim? I just want to be sure they are a good & fair company to deal with. (of course I hope I never have to use it!!!!)
There are several "kickers" to be aware of with just about all of the collector car policies. One is the mileage restriction. Some others are that it must be garaged, must never be left unattended, must not be used for daily transportation or as a "back up" driver. If you fit all the criteria, they're a great deal.
I'm with Hagerty too. No problems ever. I've had no claims. Called 'em and told them I would be driving my 69 to St. Louis a few years ago....no hassles. Chuck

Condon and Skelly. 2500mi/yr but no attendance policy and you can drive it to work or the store ocassionally. Must be garaged and not a backup too. I get $25k agreed value for $350/yr
Eh. There are many Canadian members on this BB. I'm sure one will answer.
When I was in Windsor, Ontario this summer, I was told I had to get a "Canadian Interprovince Insurance Card", or something like that. Got one from my agent, with a LOT of difficulty. Nobody asked me for it when I crossed the border in Detroit. What's the deal with the card? Chuck
I pay ~$395CDN/325US per year for my 1967. It is an agreed value policy with no restrictions other than you must have a daily driver as well. The daily need not be insured with Lant. Of course a "year" here is really 6 months with our winter so the premium reflects that reality.
Chuck,
The pink card is simply proof of insurance, good for all of Canada and the United States. I don't know why you had to have one. Your US insurance card would have done just fine. Thousands of people cross the border each day....
You may want to check out an article on my web site that lists the terms and conditions of collector insurance along with links to 6 companies that offer this specialized service. Each has different conditions and I chose American Collectors because of their low cost and I got it through my regular agent who said they are excellent at filling claims.
Yep, Hagerty is good Company...Got my '77 and'87 with them.. Had a claim last year after an old man backed his Buick into my '77... No problems at all, just sent them pics of damage and told them who was going to do work.. They were great to work with..
I have requested a quote from Hagerty but can't find out what the mileage limit is and IF I can drive the car to the store, my kids school, or an occasional trip to work. How literal is their attendance policy? Is all this spelled out in the quote I am to receive?
