Default early vs. late C3 seats differences

I just finished installing my newly painted and re-upholstered 79 seats into my 1973. Now, when I sit in the seats, my head rubs the T-tops. Is this just because the foam is new, or are the seats actually thicker?

I did put a 1" spacer under each side of the front of the seats to mimic the tracks that were on the seats when in the '79. I used my '73 tracks.

What has been other people's experience in this? I'd hate to have to put the old '73 seats back in and sell these. I like the feel of the newer seats.

THe 78-82 seats are taller than the early seats. If you don't try to use the power on the drivers side you can get them down a bit. The 78-82 has a recess in the stock metal floor on the drivers side for the seat motors. Use early tracks and you should be OK.

Hmmm. I wonder how much I can lower the seats. Maybe 1/2" in the front and less than that in the rear. Unless I modify my tracks (bend the adjuster rod to a new angle), then I could maybe drop the front an inch, but not the back for sure. Were the later vettes just taller inside from floor to ceiling?
