Default rear spring replacement

Just ordered a new rear 9 leaf spring from ecklers today and replaceing the composite spring in my 77. My question is will i have to have it aligned again and if so is there a way you can do it yourself? The reason Im replacing it is I just can't get enough adjustment to get the car to sit right. Have the shorter bolts and they are maxed out and spring is allmost straight and car sits about 1" lower in rear. Any pros or cons to this change? Thanks jw

The higher ride hight will change the camber a little. Probably won't be enough to get excited about. Be carefull, you would be suprised how much energy is stored in that "flat" spring.

Hope this helps.

The rear can be set at home. check out corvettefaq.com
When making adjustments roll the car back and forth so it settles

I assume you mean 'longer' bolts - with the 8" bolts it should sit at about 28-29", that's where mine is with a (probably re-arched) 9 leaf spring. Do a search - you'll find that the Vette sits very high with the composite springs OR re-arched steel springs...mine was at 30.5" with the 6" bolts, now it's down to 29" with 8" bolts

good luck with the new spring - and be careful removing the other one.

VB FE-7 composite replacement was at correct height using long spring bolts. The VB composite weighs much less.

Default Flat composite spring

How long has the composite spring been in there? If it is flat, do you have reason to believe it is cracked or broken?

Don't think it is broke or cracked,as for how long it has been in car, I don't no. I have owned it for 3 years and they were on it when bought.I bought it as a project car and have since rebuilt engine to 9.5 to 1 compression350hp/headers/true duals,no cats/trans rebuilt with shift kit/all new interior/body stripped to bare glass & repainted base/clear/all new bushings, ball joints, power steering, all u-joints replaced, new radiator, new lenses, emblems, wheel bearings, new trailing arms, strut bushings, shocks, brake calipers and just last week sent differential out for rebuild and gear change from 3.08 to 3.55s. Just thought since I couldn't get the rear to sit same as front with the composit spring (very nice ride tho) I would try the 9 leaf spring but really have no idea what to expect as far as ride height, ride and handleing. Everyone asks how i got my front to sit so high??? you can stick your fist between top of fender & tire??? Thanks jw

Dude - a "q" is not a "g", almost the same, but just a little different.
