i have a q-jet and a holley.... right now i would like to step up and get a nice looking carb but was thinking if there are any methods to cleaning/painting the old ones...i've cleaned it but it's still not all that impressive...... the rest of the engine is on it's way to being painted/chrome and don't want a dirty looking carb........ would it be stupid to paint it...... i would sell them if anyone needs them both...
I've built a Holley carb for a buddy. I put it together from parts. I painted the body and bowls black. I put all that on a purple anodized Proform throttle body with 2 purple anodized Proform metering blocks. It looks sharp. You can have the the Holley parts chromed or buy them that way.

You could have the carb polished, as in the picture. If you mill the choke horn on the Holley, it will sort of resemble a Dominator.

someone recently posted his method of re-dying his quadrajet, using craft store dyes and calcx manifold dressing. It came out pretty good. Do a search for carb refinishing or something like that. Joe

Sounds like the Rub'n'Buff cream might work well in this case.
Found at craft stores in various colors.
