Default Need Creative Ideas for a 350/350

Need some creative ideas from the pros . . . I've been going back and forth with doing an BB engine swap on my '69 but for financial reasons I have decided to just keep the NOM 350/350 and try to do some work to get it more beastly. Not interested in doing a rebuild, just looking for some ad-ons and changes that I can do. I'm open to everything, as simple as a switching to solid lifter or as complicated as supercharging.
I have a big block hood so I have some room under there. I've thought about lowering the gears, changing the carbeuration, etc., but would love to know what set-up you guys would suggest. I've already decided on headers and am looking for a company that makes ones that would fit my sidepipes. Also thinking about chambered exhaust but want to keep my factory pipe covers.

Like most of us, I'm looking to get from 0-60 in the shortest possible time, simple as that. Since the car is non-numbers I feel it's my obligation to do something stupid under the hood, and keep the cosmetics on the car all-stock.

Thanks,
Joe

For the money you will spend on a bigger cam, intake carb and something like nitrous etc etc...I know you said you didnt want a rebuild, but you would be better off getting a stroker kit for your car. A 383 will produce great torque, better drive ability and more bang for your $ than stepping up the cam/intake/carb in the 350.

You can get hedman headers to fit to the stock sidepipe, though the stock sidepipes are very restrictive. You would be better of using the hedmans, or Stahl or Stainless works headers and making a 3" sidepiep to go under the covers. (I did the same thing...and I am not too far from NJ if you want to come see)

Those are a couple of great ideas. I like the FI idea, but I've never had a carbed car and am enjoying it. The stroker sounds like a nice plan too, and as for the exhaust, headers for sure. I know that the stock pipes are pretty restrictive, and I would love to run them open with just 3" pipes but am worried that it may be a little too loud? What about chambered exhaust?

Thanks guys, I'm open to everything. Keep the ideas comin'!

I like the 383 stroker idea. No real good substitute for cubic inches. RPM is a close substitute.

If you want to keep the 350 you could build the LT-1. You could go even further if that was not enough power but you need to replace more stuff to match with the bigger cams etc.
