Default Trying to lower the front end, need help.

Howdy from Central Texas. Im trying to lower my vette about two inches. I've found a kit for the rear that comes with the leaf springs and longer bolts. I cannot find a kit that will lower the front. My question for all those who have lowered their vettes is. Where can I find some lowering spendals, or springs or whatever to lower the front. I don't want to cut the springs. Thanks

most aftermarket performance springs lower ride height a bit, but most people cut coils to custom set ride height

550 Gymkhanas do a pretty good drop job--i'm running them on my 454--but they may be too stiff for a small block.

There's been a ton of threads about this. Try a search, every car is different as every owner and setup. I cut 3/4 of a new stock SB spring.

Had it aligned shortly after I cut them. I think that's a bad pic above. It doesn't slant in hardly at all.

There are no drop spindles available. You have to cut the coils unless you go with the 550 springs. The 550's will drop the front about an inch.

Not sure what your budget calls for....

I purchased this set along with the lower control arms and Carrera Shocks and it lowered my front about 3". That is NOT why I purchased the set. I just wanted something a lot better than stock and newer technology at the time. I have had this on my Vette for at least 10 years now and it's AWESOME !!!!

I have this also. You can put the front end as low as you want. You can adjust for ride height and harshness.

I cut my springs 1.5 coils for $1.50 in Dremel cutting discs. Had it aligned and it works great!

Why not..? with Cali: just cut the springs - no big deal and easy to do. No reason not to do it, and you get the advantage of a higher spring rate after cutting for better handling and less body roll.

He is I and I is He! As for the springs, it sounds like cutting them isnt such a bad idea. Cali, how much did you cut for the 1.5" drop?

1.5 COILS, went from 27.2" to 26". My springs are different than your so start with 3/4 coil and see where you sit after it settles from driving. I took the front end apart 3 times to get the height I wanted. I can take aprt my front end and have it cut and back together in under an hour now so it's no big deal.

Sounds like cutting the coils is the way to go. Thanks for the help.

cut the sptings, cutting your old springs has some benefits, they have already sagged down and will hold the current legnth almost indefinetely unlike new spings. If you cut those after some time the car may sit too low. Cutting springs is cheap and if you do it correctly perfectly safe (the trick is to immobilize the last 1/2 coil that you cut by heating, turning the spring upside down and then sitting on it, the coil will be pressed flat and be rendered inactive, the heat affecting the spring modulus is not a problem then)

True but I just cut mine then shaved the last end (top of the tip) flat so it sits in the pocket just like the stock end did. Either way works.

It's not about the flat spot so much, making that last coil inactive is what's most important.

Not sure what inactive means but your more knowledgeable than me. All I know is I have had mine cut for 4 months and she handles/drives great.
