I think there's and adapter balance plate you can use when using a SB flywheel in a BB crank. Northernautoparts.com had one. And Competition Products lists it as P/N 4163, I couldn't find it online though.
Eliminates the need for expensive internal balancing of externally balanced motors.
400 sb and 454 bb are both externally balanced, but not the same. I think a 427 can use a 350 flywheel. Joe
Give the man a "CEGAR" he is right along with the 327, 307, 302 and 283. I use the L-88 (427) 14lb nodular iron flywheel on my LT-1 350 (revs up like a Singer sewing machine!)
I know they have the same bolt pattern but are the the same part # and can a SB flywheel work on a 454?
Corey the SB and BB are normally different it depends on whether the motor is Internally or Externally balanced. A SB 350 tends to be internally balanced which means its flywheel will not work for a 454 but a 427 which is internally balance can use the same flywheel as a 350.
